ProjectPulse

Five working documents for professional services and project billing teams running Workday. The question underneath all of them is whether the revenue you recognised can be walked back to the work that earned it.

Contents

Five documents, one licence

Licensed to your organisation rather than per seat. Two are live workbooks and three are guides your team can act on without me in the room.

XLSX
01 · Services financial health workbook

Forty-five scored checks across seven domains, weighted to ninety-eight points. It produces the band and the ranked gap list the rest of the set works from.

XLSX
02 · Unbilled and WIP reconciliation workbook

Tests recognised revenue against billings, unbilled movement and deferred movement, period by period. It flags every period that does not tie and every opening balance that disagrees with the prior close.

PDF
03 · Revenue recognition and contract shape guide

How fixed fee, time and materials, milestone and capped contracts each behave once they are in the tenant, and where each one quietly breaks. Written for the case where the contract in the system is not the one you signed.

PDF
04 · Project to billing controls guide

Time and expense approval design, rate derivation, and the segregation of duties questions an auditor asks about who can approve their own work. Includes the period close controls that belong to services rather than to the general ledger team.

PDF
05 · Period close evidence pack

What to produce, in what order, so the close is defensible after the fact rather than reconstructed under pressure. Built to be handed to whoever runs your close, unchanged.

Specimen

What the workbook actually returns

A full run on a specimen services business, two quarters after go-live.

Critical checks passed with no evidence held2
BandAt risk

Unbilled and cutoff carries the heaviest weight in the set because that is where services revenue goes wrong, and a specimen scoring fifty-five percent overall is failing in exactly that place.

The money document

One equation, every period

Recognised revenue equals billings plus the movement in unbilled less the movement in deferred. If that does not hold for a period, something is in the wrong month.

Reconciliation workbook: a specimen period that does not tie
Recognised revenue1,284,000
Billed in period1,150,000
Movement in unbilled96,500
Movement in deferred(11,200)
Expected recognised1,257,700
Difference26,300
VerdictDoes not tie
ContinuityOpening does not match prior close

The workbook carries the tolerance, the per-period verdict and the continuity test across periods, so a break that was papered over in one month is visible in the next. Twenty-six thousand is small enough to survive a review and large enough to be a real cutoff problem.

The part most tools skip

A pass you cannot evidence is not a pass

Every check has a second column asking whether you hold the evidence today. A critical check marked Pass with nothing behind it counts as an exposure, identically to a failure.

Answer every check Pass with no evidence held and the workbook returns one hundred percent and the band At risk. That contradiction is deliberate, and it is exactly the conversation an auditor starts.

The free check asks sixteen questions in its services area and does not ask about evidence. ProjectPulse asks forty-five and asks about evidence on every one, which is the whole difference between knowing and being able to prove it.

Everything in here was built from public Workday documentation, public accounting guidance and my own judgment. Nothing derives from any client engagement, and every configuration name in the guides comes with an instruction to verify it against your own tenant release.

Two ways to buy

Pay now by card or bank transfer and the documents arrive by email within one business day. Or ask for an invoice if your finance team needs a PO and a W-9 first.

Payment is handled by Intuit and Saintilco Consulting never sees your card details. Bank transfer is offered at checkout and preferred for company purchases; thirty-day refund, no questions.

Not sure yet? Take fifteen minutes first and I will tell you if this is the wrong thing to buy.
